Lorem ipsum exists so that people looking at a layout look at the layout. Fill a mockup with real marketing copy and the client will spend the meeting editing the copy. Fill it with nonsense that has the right texture and rhythm — Latin-derived, with realistic word and sentence lengths — and the conversation stays on the design.
Generate by paragraph, sentence or word depending on what you are testing. Card components need a fixed word count to check whether text overflows. Article templates need several paragraphs to see how the vertical rhythm holds. Buttons and labels need a handful of words at most.
Replace it before launch. Every year sites ship with lorem ipsum still on a page nobody checked, and it is always the About page.
